The War for Gold: King Tahargo Attacks Djenné

The Djenné village and region had grown comfortable from the large profits of their gold mines and trading routes. They were totally unprepared to fight, or even win a war, against well-trained experienced warriors. This war is fought in the jungle, by two unequal groups. The attacking warriors are highly trained with many years of experience on the battlefields, while Djenné warriors are untrained with no battlefield experience. The war is for control of the gold mines and trading routes Djenné produced. Who will win and how they will win is the topic of this book. A good book to read for ages 12—18.
